Jan Brewer: ‘Arizona Will Prevail In Its Right To Protect Our Citizens’
This is the statement Arizona Governor Jan Brewer made with regard to the partial injunction ruling made by Clinton appointee, Judge Susan Bolton, on SB1070:
“This fight is far from over. In fact, it is just the beginning, and at the end of what is certain to be a long legal struggle, Arizona will prevail in its right to protect our citizens. I am deeply grateful for the overwhelmingly support we have received from across our nation in our efforts to defend against the failures of the federal government.
“I have consulted with my legal counsel about our next steps. We will take a close look at every single element Judge Bolton removed from the law, and we will soon file an expedited appeal at the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
“For anyone willing to see it — the crisis is as clear as is the federal government’s failure to address it.
“The judge herself noted that the stash houses where smugglers hide immigrants from Mexico before bringing them into the country’s interior have become a fixture on the news in Arizona and that, ‘You can barely go a day without a location being found in Phoenix where there are numerous people being harbored.’”
“When I signed the bill on April 23rd, I said, SB 1070 – represents another tool for our state to use as we work to address a crisis we did not create and the federal government has actively refused to fix. The law protects all of us, every Arizona citizen and everyone here in our state lawfully. And, it does so while ensuring that the constitutional rights of ALL in Arizona are undiminished – holding fast to the diversity that has made Arizona so great.
“I will battle all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary, for the right to protect the citizens of Arizona. Meanwhile, I also know we still have work to do in confronting the fear-mongers, those dealing in hate and lies and economic boycotts that seek to do Arizona harm.
“We have already made some progress in waking up Washington. But the question still remains: will Washington do its job, and put an end to the daily operations of smugglers in our nation, or will the delays and sidesteps continue? I believe that the defenders of the rule of law will ultimately succeed with us in our demand for action.”
Good for you Jan! What most opponents of the bill fail to realize are the repercussions Arizona faces as it is drenched in illegal immigrants. It is estimated that there are nearly half a million illegal immigrants in Arizona who are driving up the costs of healthcare and hospital care, welfare, they are taking jobs from able bodied Americans since they are willing to work cheaper (which just shocks me that the Unions could be against this bill given this fact), and they are contributing to the crime rate as drug smugglers have unhappily made Phoenix the kidnapping capital of the US.
Opponents of SB1070 believe the bill will ratchet up racial profiling and potentially suspend any legal status persons’ Constitutional rights (since the bill allows for temporary detention without warrant should the person be suspected of being an illegal immigrant). This bill is ANTI ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. It’s not anti-Mexican or anti Immigration. Only ILLEGAL immigration- you know – as in to BREAK the law?
Film Maker and Canadian Michael Moore was quoted as saying SB1070 was hypocritical since all of us here in the US are descended from immigrants. You missed the mark again Moore – once again, this bill is anti ILLEGAL immigration, not anti immigration. We just want them to do it LEGALLY. That is all.
This ruling by Judge Bolton is already being appealed by Arizona, and will find its way to the Supreme Court. The ruling has done nothing, however, to thwart the intentions of many other states, poised to take up similar legislation against illegals.
I admire Jan Brewer’s fortitude and strength of character. Governor, you’re doing the right thing. And we at the Raw Deal, stand behind you.

This month of July 2010, our U.S. Federal courts have found the so called State of Arizona hate filled legislation namely “House Bill 2013” and “SB1070” Un-constitution (So much for the intellect of Jan Brewer, “Did you read the bills you signed?”). But we all know that they will go crying to the Supreme Court of the United States, please, please, please go. We will fight you in Arizona, any other state, and yes in Washington DC. We will not tire, we will not be silent and we will persevere, I promise you. We are a country that is ruled by the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence, not by the majority of the day. When you do not know the principles in these documents, therein lays the problem in losing when you are challenged in court.
In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme of clans; the Baggers, Birthers and Blowhards (people who love to push their beliefs and hate on others while trying to take away the rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win in November. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”.
It’s all about politics: Jan Brewer you were never elected to be Governor, but you have no problem trying to get elected on the back of undocumented workers, you loser (sure you may win but the long-term effects to your so called State is just beginning). 9. The boycotted Martin Luther King Day, what idiots don’t want another holiday? Yes, you guessed it Arizona.
Well Arizona, you can keep boycotting new holidays, passing hate filled legislation and the rest of our country will continue to challenge you in court of law and Boycott your so-called state.
Lets face it, no one can real believe anything that comes out of Brewer’s mouth, in an interview, this year, in an attempt to gain sympathy, she first said her father had died in Germany fighting the Nazi in World War II (which ended 1945) but of course we find out the truth that father was never in Germany and died in California in 1955. But we are suppose to believe everything else she says, right!

Brewer became Governor of Arizona as part of the line of succession, as determined by the Arizona constitution – lawfully. She has a large double digit margin approval rating and will likely win election by a large margin.
No one hates immigrants – from anywhere. We hate ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
Have you read the bill? I have. There is nothing hateful about being asked if you are a citizen. In fact, the bill expressly forbids officers of the law profiling any individual to ask for documentation. And it expressly says that the individual has to already be suspected of a crime before you can even ask for ID. We’re talking about asking a simple question – the is not torture.
I have to show my drivers license and registration if I am pulled over, or if I want to write a check, or if I apply for a job, or if I want to buy alcohol, or any number of other daily things. Why should this act be tantemount to being racist? It’s clearly not. Right now my tax dollars are being spent on social programs that illegals are benefitting from – THAT is offensive.
Montana, have you read the Constitution? Can you please point out the section in the Constitution that makes this bill illegal? You can’t. Because it’s not.

Montana – on this site, you can see actual text of MEXICO’s own illegal immigration bill. And you know what? It’s a whole lot tougher and nastier than anyting Arizona has on paper. It includes JAIL TIME, 10,000 fines, felony charges – it states that if you can’t prove that you can provide for yourself, you won’t be nationalized (even if you applied legally) – as an illegal MEXICO’S law says you can’t even protest. TEN YEARS in jail if you’ve been caught as an illegal for the SECOND TIME.

The Obama administration filed a lawsuit to stop a new law taking affect in Arizona that makes it a crime for Arizona employers to hire illegal aliens; has Obama’s lawsuit extended an invitation to illegal immigrants to illegally enter Arizona to seek employment?
Any law that is enforced that stops illegal U.S. immigration, threatens socialist and communist agendas; both ideologies promulgate overburdening financially U.S. Government, local and state infrastructures to force economic and public chaos on Citizens. Marxists historically move on democracies when they are in Economic and Social Crisis. Obama’s refusal to enforce illegal immigration laws and secure the border is playing into the hands of the REDS. Obama’s Socialist/Marxist constituents, many in U.S. Government, intend to absorb into their ranks millions of illegal immigrants via Amnesty to force their leftist ideology on Americans—that mandate U.S. Citizens share their wealth with the masses—globally. Obama appears intended to leave the border open or so poorly secured, that 12 million more illegal immigrants can enter America, insuring Obama’s leftist constituency can find—several million (foreign born) residents to push for a Socialist America. Illegal immigrants now protest on America’s streets demanding U.S. Taxpayers pay for their education, health care and an array of other welfare costs.

I think it was FOX that did a show on extraterrestrials that live among us, and Governor Brewer does resemble some alien from a B Movie, “Invasion of the Brain Snatchers”, right? On 7-28-10 I was watching Republicans on Morning Joe (MSNBC) preach about being ADULTS when it comes to our economic meltdown. I say BS! The real ADULTS are trying to demand accountability from those who got us in this financial mess. Republicans want to shift the burden of responsibility on American working class, teachers, poor people, unions and immigrants.
I wonder if the spoiled Silver Spoons on Morning Joe knew how much they hurt Democrats, Progressives, Liberals when they didn’t challenge NJ Gov. Christie. NOW all over the internet the Conservative wacko groupies are swooning all over Christie like he was a rock star. Reagan really believed in immigration – which is not a bad thing. His desires are no different than that of most of the US today. But his administration flatly failed to enforce the rule of law when it came to immigration. Granting amnesty to 2.7 million immigrants did nothing to curtail the flow of illegals (I’d wager it encouraged it) while sadly the whole idea was to legalize them and them get on with reforms as shown above. That clearly never happened. Amnesty doesn’t work.

So much to address with this paragraphical gem. The economic meltdown began in the housing market. Sub-prime mortgage lending was encouraged by none other than Bill Clinton and Barney Frank starting in the 90’s. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were encouraged (if not strong armed) to lend to people with less than stellar credit in the interest of being “socio-economically fair” I guess you’d have to say. In other words – variable rate, sub-prime mortgages were lent to those who never had a prayer in being able to pay for them, who banks wouldn’t normally have lent to based on credit, collateral, down payments, and the means with which to pay it back. That didn’t wash with democrats – that common sense business to them was tantamount to being discriminatory. THAT is what started the meltdown. Further was the repeal of Glass Steagall. In a nutshell, repealing this bill led to the inappropriate relationships between banks and other financial institutions all culminating in the AIG, “banks too big to fail” debacle. In the simplest of terms, fiscal responsibility has not been rampant in Congress for decades. That being said, we have a president in office, who in this economic meltdown is spending money faster than any president in history. He’s already outspent Bush inside 2 years of his first term. So when you are talking about ADULTS and slinging insults at one party, know that both need to be reined in, but that democrats far outspend republicans. Remember also, please, that the last two years of Bush’s second term were lead by Pelosi’s democrats.
I take specific issue with your accusation that republicans want to shift the burden of “responsibility” to the “working class, teachers, poor people, unions and immigrants”. This reeks of more communist group think . That’s just categorically false. Responsibility – why should it be the taxpayers responsibility to pay for the pensions of teachers and unions? Unions, once having legitimate need, now are more of the problem. Overpaid, underworked, over-compensated (and completely exempt from the Healthcare takeover), they do not deserve any bailout. It’s high time that be recognized. Immigrants – if they are illegal have no American citizen’s rights – they aren’t citizens. Sorry. And the “poor” – poor is a relative term. This country provides you with a chance for the PURSUIT of happiness – not the guarantee of it. I am living proof of that – I paid my dues, and I’m still paying. Tens of thousands of student loan debt – no one gave me a free ride because of my heritage or color of my skin, so once again, sorry if you’re poor. Work your way out. I did. That is responsibility.
As to Brewer’s connections to the CCA – I guess what you are suggesting is that she signed this Arizona bill into law not because there is a serious immigration issue in Arizona, but because she wanted to help her friends in that business by giving them more people to house in jail? Thereby increasing the need for more CCA services? If that is your thinking, you are really making a serious stretch – and with not one iota of proof (that I could find). So please, cite your sources for me there too, else I’ll assume you have none.

The wealthiest people in this country already pay 83% of the tax burden. Unlike you, I actually have factual reference from government agencies on that one. YOU LOOK THAT UP! More than half of this country pays NO TAX AT ALL. Please look it up and stop spewing the lies and half truth mantras on taxes. Small businesses are the bread and butter of the country. They make up roughly 2 out of every 3 jobs. Many of these business employers make 250,000 or near it. That doesn’t make them rich. They employ people. You keep taxing these folks, and more jobs will continue to be lost – and that is the truth.
Let me give you an analogy.
Student A studies, works hard, puts in the effort and gets an A on the test.
Student B doesn’t really study, goofs off and gets an F on the test.
Now in my scenario this is fair. It’s called personal responsibility, or getting what you”deserve”.
In your scenario, it’s not fair, cause student A had more “privileges” and Student B was “poor”.
So let’s take 2 letter grades from student A and give them to student B and then everyone gets a C. Is that fair?
I say no. It’s socialism. It’s taking from one person (the means) and giving their income to another person (the needs) all in an effort to Redistribute Wealth. That’s the Marxist theory – from each according to his means, to each according to his needs.

I thought Republicans were about taking responsibility, come on it is time to be a man and take responsibility of what your party did to our nation through back door deals and alright theft. They only protect corporate interest (foreign or domestic) and the few rich. Are you surprised that “Fake News” majority interest is Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal who has publicly acknowledged that he has forced Fox News to edit its coverage he disliked, conservative activists have attacked the business partnership as “really dangerous for America.” So when our Supreme Court allowed any corporation (foreign or domestic) to influence elections through unlimited funding well there you have it, Republicans win, our country will lose.
I know the proponents of this law say that the majority approves of this law, but the majority is not always right. Would women or non-whites have the vote if we listen to the majority of the day, would the non-whites have equal rights (and equal access to churches, housing, restaurants, hotels, retail stores, schools, colleges and yes water fountains) if we listen to the majority of the day? We all know the answer, a resounding, NO! You were all wrong then and you are wrong now!
We are a country that is ruled by the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence, not by the majority of the day. When you do not know the principles in these documents, and pass laws that do not meet the prescribe standards therein lays the problem in losing when you are challenged in court.

I agree with Joanne and Jeff 100%. My wife Gina has been a legal resident of the USA for almost 11 years. She wants to become a citizen this year. She is from PANAMA and is proud of her heritage yet she has chosen to become a citizen for all the right reasons. She endured a long process to come here LEGALLY. She is 100% in favor of the law as are many other Latinos that are legal in this country. If the government has its way they will be rewarded for breaking the law with citizenship.

After 15 years praying for a granddaughter, I was finally made a grandma on December 17, 2008. Seven days after her birth, I heard my son-in-law state he had already been deported one and had willfully re-entered the USA where he is housed, fed, transported, clothed, and provided a car with all the trimmings by my firstborn daughter, a native born American caught up in this mess by as man who said nothing of his status in the USA. I was cast out of their home, they have gone into hiding, and now these “illegal” want to deprive my beloved granddaughter of her legacy: America? NO WAY. OT WITH MY HELP AND APPROVAL. I reported him to the INS who is overwhelmed with these reports the minute I realized what his status is in the USA. When the INS came for him, he called me to let me know I do not know who he is nor what he is capable of. Then, my family was disappeared.
I do not know who he really is nor what he is capable of but neither does he know who I am nor what I am capable of. To give you an idea, I stand 100% behind Arizona’s efforts to protect its citizens and behind every State commited to protecting the legacy to our children and the children of our children: America.
